We noticed your app accesses web content you own where you collect cookies. Cookies may be used to track users, but you do not use App Tracking Transparency to request the user's permission before collecting data used to track.

Starting with iOS 14.5, apps on the App Store need to receive the user’s permission through the AppTrackingTransparency framework before collecting data used to track them.

Next Steps

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

1. If you haven't already, update your app privacy information in App Store Connect to disclose that you track users. You must have the Account Holder or Admin role to update app privacy information.
2. Implement App Tracking Transparency.
3. Request permission using App Tracking Transparency before collecting data used to track the user. When you resubmit, indicate in the Review Notes where the permission request is located.
4. If the user does not allow tracking, do not collect cookies for tracking purposes.

You may also choose to remove the tracking functionality from your app, including tracking that occurs when accessing web content.

Resources

- Tracking is linking data collected from your app with third-party data for advertising purposes, or sharing the collected data with a data broker. Learn more about tracking.
- See Frequently Asked Questions about the new requirements for apps that track users.
- Learn more about designing appropriate permission requests.

Dear support! I declare that we dont use any tool to collect data for third parties, or advertisement or any other purposes. We use cookies only for app functionality. For app functionality we also save: 1. the e-mail address 2. we generate our own userID for each user. I tried to make the above clear by adding these two Data Types in our "App privacy section". To the best of my knowledge I tried to understand what I need to do and tried to do actions accordingly. I hope that is what you requested. Regards, Mate Magyar CalorieBase KaloriaBazis Kft

Dear support! We have uploaded a new version (1.7.3) which contains the Transparency framework which you requested. I again declare that our app doesnt collect any data for advertisement or third parties. We added e-mails as collected data. Note: we optionally let users to enter their email addresses (only for app functionality).

Dear support, I'm at a point where I have no idea what you expect me to do, because I believe I have done what you have requested: 1. I have added the App Transparency into our app. 2. I have clearly stated that we use cookies only to handle user logged-in status 3. I have clearly stated that we dont use any data for third parties or advertisements. Everything is only for app functionality. 4. I have uploaded the 1.7.3 version which if you use it will make the webview version to accept the cookie popup in our website. If that is not enough PLEASE BE CLEAR ABOUT WHAT EXACTLY YOU NEED FROM OUR SIDE. Our app is the biggest calorie counting application in Hungary and we need a solution as soon as possible. Thanks, Mate Magyar

Dear support, I asked you to tell me what I have to do, because I believe I have done what you have requested. I write my answers here with CAPITAL: 1. If you haven't already, update your app privacy information in App Store Connect to disclose that you track users. You must have the Account Holder or Admin role to update app privacy information. IT IS ALREADY IN 1.7.3 WE ADDED THAT WE TRACK USERS, I ADDED EMAIL ADDRESSES - WHICH IS NOT 'TRACKING' ACTUALLY. AS I SAID WE USE COOKIES. REASON: NOT TO TRACK, BUT TO MANAGE USERS LOGGED-IN. PLEASE TELL IF I HAVE TO CHOOSE ANOTHER OPTION HERE. 2. Implement App Tracking Transparency. IT IS ALREADY IN OUR 1.7.3, WE IMPLEMENTED THE TRACKING TRANSPARENCY. 3. Request permission using App Tracking Transparency before collecting data used to track the user. When you resubmit, indicate in the Review Notes where the permission request is located. IT IS SET UP IN THE APP TRANSPARENCY OF OUR LATEST BUILD 1.7.3 4. If the user does not allow tracking, do not collect cookies for tracking purposes. IF THE USER DOESNT ALLOW TRACKING WE DONT COLLECT ANY TRACKING COOKIES. I DECLARE AGAIN WE DONT USE ANY TRACKING, ALL COOKIES SERVES ONLY APP FUNCTIONALITY Please dont send the same 4-step automatic message again, and be precise about what is the problem and how can I resolve it exactly. I hope we can clear the misunderstanding very soon. Thanks, Mate Magyar

Dear support, To help our work please answer this question: When you click on REFUSING our app, what is the exact REASON? Thanks, Mate Magyar

Máté Magyar2022-02-25 1:45 PM

Dear support, To my best knowledge I try again with a new submission. To be clear: We have a webview app and we use cookies ONLY to remember logged-in users. In the app privacy I dont find an option for "cookies". I'm trying to find the correct option so now I added "User ID" and "Other Data". Please tell if it's not okay what should I do (in our case: using cookies only for remembering users). Thanks, Mate Magyar

Máté Magyar2022-02-27 2:28 AM

Dear support! Have you checked my last submission? I hope it is okay and we can close this issue. Please check it first and maybe we can save time. If it's not okay, the phone call is not really the best option, because I afraid it wont be clear and precise way. Even in written form, now you only send me links and guidelines. I asked you a several time to tell me what the problem is with my submission exactly, still I have NOT got a clear answer. Considering written form is a more precise way of communication -> I dont think a phone call could help. Only way a call could work is that if you have a Hungarian support. That would be great. If all your answer is no, then lets try the English phone call. In this case please tell me a precise date and time (time zone), because I will order a translator and my team members to ensure that conversation will be effective and we find the way to resolve the issue. Thanks, Mate Magyar

Dear support! To comply with your guides, we have uploaded a new version. This is what we have done: 1. We added App Transparency, and we have set up "User ID" and "Other" categories. 2. We have made it clear in the description what we do: we use webview and website cookies. This is the description: "This app needs permission to accept website cookies of kaloriabazis.hu and caloriebase.com. Cookies in this app serve only app functionality (to keep users logged-in) and your data will not be shared with third parties or ad services." We hope it will be clear for everyone that we don't track data in the "bad way", but we only use a website cookie to keep users logged-in, which is a core app functionality. Thanks Mate Magyar

Dear support! We have checked again all the 4 points you mentioned. See my answers with CAPITALS. Please follow these steps to resolve this issue: 1. If you haven't already, update your app privacy information in App Store Connect to disclose that you track users. You must have the Account Holder or Admin role to update app privacy information. IT IS DONE 2. Implement App Tracking Transparency. IT IS DONE 3. Request permission using App Tracking Transparency before collecting data used to track the user. When you resubmit, indicate in the Review Notes where the permission request is located. IT IS DONE BUT ONE PART IS NOT CLEAR: YOU SAY I SHOULD INDICATE WHWER THE PERMISSION REQUEST IS LOCATED. IT IS LOCATED IN THE APP TRANSPARENCY POPUP WHEN THE APP IS LAUNCHED (AS YOU REQUESTED). 4. If the user does not allow tracking, do not collect cookies for tracking purposes. AS I WROTE, COOKIES ARE NEEDED FOR APP FUNCTIONALITY (THE APP CANT RUN WITH COOKIES DISABLED). NOW WE HAVE MADE OUR APP TO WORK LIKE THIS: IF USERS DONT ALLOW COOKIES -> THE APP CLOSES. We hope if it is okay now. If not, pls tell what step we need to do exactly, becuase currect solution is the best to our knowlege to comply to your guidelines. Regards, Mate Magyar

Dear support! This is our 25th message. I do everything what I can, but you never accept. So this makes me believe there is some misunderstanding here. This whole "App transparency" thing seems not legit in my case. This popup says that: "ALLOW KALORIABAZIS TO TRACK YOUR ACTIVITY ACROSS OTHER COMPANIES APPS AND WEBSITES?" This popup is created to defend users from data-spying apps. I dont spy anything. We just use website cookies for app functionality (to remember users). I especially DONT TRACK ANYTHING ACROSS OTHER APPS OR WEBSITE. All these cookies we use are used ONLY on our own website. Not other app, no other website. We do NO trick, NO cheat, NO spying, nothing! 1. Are you sure I have to use this Transparency popup which is designed for data stealing apps? 2. If you say "yes I need this APP transparency popup", then I have to tell you that dont understand why you wrote "app transparency request didnt show up". How you mean? It is there! It is there for 2 weeks! We have implemented it. How is that you dont see it? I attach a screenshot. I'm slowly going crazy. It's like you ask me a cup of tea, and when I give you one you say "it is not a cup of tea, give me a cup of tea". It is going for 25th messages now. Please connect me with someone who can help me, who is experienced in "what to do in case of webview apps which uses simple website cookies". Thanks, Mate Magyar
